Icy and Snowy River

Icy and Snowy River, originally uploaded by Tapio Hurme.

The picture was taken in the South Finland and it describes the normal winter here over 60 latitudes after few warmer years.

General January drops the temperature down to -25 degrees Celcius (-13 degrees Fahrenheit). It is time to visit Nautela rapids if there are any free waters. Yes, there are. Icy water runs slowly through the snow blanket and the evaporated water forms tiny smokes in the cold air.
My fingers are chilled but the view warms me inside. :-)
