Pincushion Protea flowering in habitat
Pincushion Protea (Leucospermum) flowers growing wild in mass next to the road between Tulbagh and Worcester (Western Cape, South Africa, August 2007).
I took the photo on a long road trip through the Western and Northern Cape in South Africa. Proteas are extremely difficult to grow (pretty much anywhere else), but are native to the Cape and grow in mass in their natural habitat. The Cape is also very mountainous, and you always seem to be surrounded by mountains everywhere you go. This photo was taken at one of the places that I stopped next to the road.

Wasn't so long a go when there was only a chill in the air.
Now the leaves are gone from the trees on this lake side view. The pond is getting crusty icey spots and the light is dull and a vicious cold wind now whips through these leafless trees. Only the hearty stand now and look at the winter's reflction in this pool
This is a photograph of an area in the Vancortlandt Park that is located in the northern end of The Bronx, New York. The photo was taken by Margaret Mendel, a writer and photographer who lives in the Bronx. If you go to her website: margaretmendel.net you will be able to see more of her flickr.com photos and read her short stories and articles.

The stair of Carlos V
the image is taken from the palace of Carlos V of the Alhambra, Granada (Spain)

On Christmas at Val d'Orcia-0114
It was taken on Christmas 2007 from the city-wall of Pienza with
the Panorama of Val d'Orcia. Here in Tuscany the wonderful colours of
autumn are resting till the end of January.
I am a German photographer and I am living at Montefollonico.
From our living-room I have a great panorama of Monte Amiata and Val d'Orcia
and to the other side of Valdichiana.
The light and the colours of Tuscany are marvellous. So you can say, that
Tuscany is a Paradise for photographers and painters.

Crystal
This is a shot of my beautiful (inside and out!) friend Crystal. It was taken with natural window light and needed almost no editing. One of my favorite shots to date.
Cane River View
The photo was taken near my hometown of Natchitoches, Louisiana on a trip home to visit my mother.
This was unfiltered but was taken in my film days using Fuji Velvia 50, with a tripod and my Konika Minolta Maxxum 7. I drove along Cane River, which is a long lake now, a cutoff of Red River, looking for opportunities to frame the sunset, and happened upon this particular view at just the right time.

Memories
Part 12
„I’m back and I remember.“
If I am not false, these are Persephones words when she came back first. She knows clearly where she is, where she lives, what she is feeling, thinking, doing… Mercury is her witness if he is not lying right now…
"The book of the Seven Seals not only is a simple book, he says. "It is a field of energy. One can say it is the energy of transformation itself. Those who start reading the storys will feel its magic vibrations. Even if they do not understand what is said, the vibrations start in the moment you want to get out of Hades. The seed will become a flower and the flower is Persephone. And Persephone is finally leaving her melancholia and lives in two worlds from that day on. 6 months in the olymp and 6 month retreat. The perfect image of this balanced duality is the flower.
Persephone has her roots in the clay and shows her beauty in the sunlight.
The blossom often is praised. You don’t forget her roots.
In the Olymp again Persephone remembers duality: The light and the crow.
I heard the goddess saying to Mercury: „Bye my friend for today.“
„Welcome back to mother earth“, he answers.
I think, Persephone smiles about something spezial… What may that be….?
To be continued…

I took this picture recently when I saw a young women remembering a bit like Persephone.

Glass & Seeds
Still Life. On the kitchen table. One light (75 watt) above; one flashlight off to the right. Some of the reflections on the right side of the glass are from the backdoor, I think.
I went out to empty the garbage. The rains and heat had grown the grass high. That, and the fact I hadn't felt like mowing for awhile. I grabbed some of the seeds and took them back with me.
The water is actually Sprite. I wanted bubbles down there. I don't know why. Artist's choice, perhaps? My Muse said, "bubbles." Just because one is lucky enough to have the Muse whisper in your ear, doesn't always mean you'll be able to make sense of what is said to you.
Life, even the mundane, the "un-glorious" the barely seen, looks proud, vibrant and wonderful up close. La Vie!
