Laguna Colorada
Bolivia • Laguna Colorada • alt.4.200m • June 2007
“Laguna Colorada” (Red Lagoon) is located at 4278 meters above sea level with a total surface area of 60 square kilometers. A lagoon with several colors, it has a predominant array of red shades caused by animal plankton, phytoplankton and other elements. The beauty of the surrounding landscape contrasts with the reddish hue of the lagoon and the pink flamingos to create a dazzling sight. This place also known as the “Nest of the Andes”, shelters more than 30,000 flamingos of three different species, all of which make this area their nesting spot, but it is James’s flamingo that has the highest concentration. Tanah Lot Silhouette
Silhouette- Homage to the dead : Bali Bombings. The sun sets behind the temple whilst people pray in this rock temple out in the sea. The reflection comes of a small puddle on the ground rocks. Camera at ground level. The white line in the center are the waves.
Extra Info: Founded in the 16th century by Nirartha, a Hindu priest who was travelling through Bali. One day he saw a shining light, came to the coast and found it shining from the fresh water spring. The locals disagreed. He meditated and pushed a chunk of rock out into the sea, which the temple now stands on. He dedicated the temple to the God of the Sea, and ever since people have treated this as very special.

Refreshed
Water lily's tend to make me feel refreshed on a hot day like today. I'm not sure why I feel this way but it just does. The next couple days are going to be 98. I believe I will be staying inside with the baby.
Hope everyone had a good weekend. I am worn out.

Wild Barley
Hordeum grass against a great skyscape! As children, we used these grasses as little darts , throwing them at each other where they stuck into our clothes!

For Polyesterlester
This picture was reserved for my 200th post. A “Riding into the Sunset” themed goodbye from the Jeridaking account. I already had the caption in mind. In it I will blabber my thanks and the hope that you will still add me as a contact once I created my new account.
But a 24 year old man by the name of Lester Nelson www.flickr.com/photos/lnelson/ had other ideas. Somehow he found this stream, added me as a contact and to my surprise gifted me with a PRO account.
Just like that, number 200 becomes 182. And 201 and beyond is made possible because of somebody who lives thousands of miles away from where I am.
Thanks Lester. You are amazing….Flickr is amazing!!!

Wasp Parade
Sometimes the best photo opportunities are close at hand and we overlook them. This photo is not digitally enhanced in any way. It was taken with a Tamron 90mm macro lens and a Sigma EF500 DG super flash. To prevent the background from being too dark I turned my camera until the rocket flower was behind the wasp.
There is a rather lengthy description www.flickr.com/photos/algo/902941418/
The drop is just about to drip -- I suppose it thinks it is becoming two drops, and so refracts the single flower twice.
