, originally uploaded by PC-Shots At Photography.

This particular photo was taken while I was experiementing with my cam - a Sony DSC-H2 in a restaurant. It was taken with the White Balance set to "incandescent".

I joined flickr in 2007 March and am really amazed by the photographs I get to see everyday. I was one of the group admins for the "Beauty is the Eye of the Beholder" and enjoyed my stint as a moderator especially when one is just a novice in photography.

The Trellis

The Trellis, originally uploaded by D.Z. Photography.

Amanda Gurganus' Wedding
Friday, September 21, 2007, pre rehearsal ceremony.

This photo, however perfect the setting, was perfectly unplanned. This trellis was an integral accompaniment to the beachside wedding I was shooting the next day, and at this point, the wedding party had brought it off the beach after the rehearsal. I happened to look over and in a moment, the trellis had transformed from an independent object to one with its environment. I love how it rises from the ground just like the grasses that surround it. The beautiful part is that that very trellis represented the couple getting married. Before their ceremony they were independent beings, but afterwards, they were one with with their new environment, one with each other.

Shimmering Songs of Silence

Shimmering Songs of Silence
(photo: Calypso Photo)

"Beauty is its own excuse for being"

Ralph Waldo Emerson

Returning to harbour into the ebbing light of a tropical sun, after photograhing cetaecans, is special. Each pile shimmered happiness and delight in the golden water.
The songs of the whales seem to resonate with the wavelets and it seemed to me that nothing could equal what they must experience during their time in these magnificent, friendly, safe waters.

Being surrounded by such stunning quintessence profoundly relaxes the body, mind and soul.

How fortunate we are to know such beauty.

Typical French Food

Typical French Food
Typical French Food, originally uploaded by Bēn.

The Burgundy snail or Roman Snail or Edible Snail (Helix pomatia). It is frequently farmed and is called escargot when used in cooking.

Snail is another food that is appreciated in France and often considered as a "strange" food by foreigners. France is the biggest snails consumer in the world with 40,000 tons consumed per year. Most of the snails production is artisanal (gathering of wild snails).

Kerlingafjöll Iceland, originally uploaded by token123.

Kerlingafjöll.

The mountains are noted for good snow conditions in the summer. Here is fine skiing on majestic sweep of snow-clad slopes.
Kerlingafjöll, a colourful range of rhyloite mountains, their highest peak rising 1477m. This is a true mountain wilderness of spectacular peaks, canyons and hidden here are strange and colourful thermal areas. Exploring here on foot is the only way, brings the thrills of all sorts of unexpected discoveries.
Due to the Kerlingafjöll´s relative central location on the plateau and their height above the surroundings, their peaks are famed viewpoints, there are extensive views of mountains of all sizes and shapes, the two ice fields Langjökull and Hofsjökull and the terrain to the north and south. Many hot springs are active on the slopes and in the ravines and in several places here are solfataras.
