The photo was taken outside Selside, Yorkshire Dales, with temperatures below freezing.
This field was devoid of stock and completely covered in snow. Only the tree on the horizon and the stone wall broke the colour between snow and sky.
The sun was attempting, very feebly, to break through, and it cast a pale streak through the sky towards the tree.
This shot taken in colour, but it may well have been in B&W, I think.
At the time it looked very beautiful; very simple and alone.
Taken just outside Selside, Yorkshire Dales.
**Nearby is the railway line, the famous Settle-Carlisle, and Pen-y-ghent is just to the south east, and Ingleborough to the west.
